What is a Blood Disorder?

Helping More People.

Michael Streete Foundation was initially set up to primarily focus on raising awareness of the blood disorder, sickle cell anaemia. We understand there are many other blood disorders people are suffering with on a daily basis including: Aplastic anaemia, Myelodysplastic syndrome and Thalassemia. We believe ‘the more people we can help the better’ so we aim to raise awareness of other blood disorders along side sickle cell anaemia.

We plan to work along side other blood disorder charities and organisations to really make a difference and improve people’s lives.

What is a Blood Disorder

A blood disorder is a condition in which there’s a problem with your:

  • Red blood cells – transport oxygen to your body’s organs and tissues
  • White blood cells – help your body fight infections
  • Platelets – help your blood to clot
  • Plasma – the liquid part of your blood

There are many types of blood disorders that can drastically affect your overall health. Some are easily treated while others can be life threatening.
